A Letter of Thanks From Our Founder
Access to food and clean water is an essential part of life, something many of us take for granted. Yet, so many communities both locally and around the world struggle to access just that. Especially during the holiday season, it’s important to reflect with gratitude for all we have, while taking action to help others.
It can be overwhelming to witness recurring natural disasters, political unrest, and poverty, but rather than feel helpless, we can ask ourselves how we can make an impact. Since our founding, we’ve committed to touching the lives of five million families with goodness. Whether it’s through the goodness in our products, community outreach, or philanthropy, we’re making an impact around the world.
In the spirit of the holiday season, we made a promise to donate ten dollars from every sale on Black Friday. Tens of thousands of people came out to support our company with a record number of orders placed. Thanks to you, we are able to make a difference in the lives of people in our home state of North Carolina and beyond.
Here in North Carolina, thousands of families were directly affected by Hurricane Helene. This raging storm pummeled western North Carolina, causing flash floods, landslides, and destruction. Entire communities were cut off from power, water, and any communication.
While recovering from this disaster will take years, we felt called to offer a helping hand right now. This is why one of the organizations we are supporting this Giving Tuesday is Wine to Water (WTW), a global nonprofit organization that supplies clean water and filtration systems to communities affected by disasters.
While WTW is a global organization, they are based in Raleigh, North Carolina. They are taking their relief efforts one step further and building tiny homes for families who lost everything to Hurricane Helene. We are proud to announce that our $50,000 donation to WTW is building homes for four unhoused families to rest and recover while they rebuild their lives.
Thanks to you, our donations have already made an impact. WTW outfitted and delivered a tiny home to one of the four recipients just before Thanksgiving. The home was delivered to a Damascus man who had been living in a tent since losing his home and all of his possessions to the storm. Now, he will be sheltered from winter’s cold as rebuilds his life.
In addition to our commitment to WTW, this year marks our fifth year supporting World Central Kitchen, yet another global nonprofit organization making big impacts in communities across the globe. WCK provides hot, nutritious meals to communities in active war zones, natural disaster sites, and more. We agree with WCK’s ethos that food is a universal human right, and with our donation of $100,000 this year, countless individuals suffering will be served hot meals with dignity.
And last but not least, we will also be donating $5,000 to Children’s Flight of Hope, an organization that provides flights to essential, life-changing, and life-saving medical care for children in need.
In all, we owe our community a big thanks. It’s with your advocacy and commitment to doing good that we are able to share the fruits of our success with these important organizations. So as we embark on a new year, let’s come together as rebels with a cause and bring more goodness to the world, together.
